Michael, a modern star in Bengali literature was born on 24 January 1828 on Saturday at Sagordari village in Kashobpur Upazila under Jashore in a rich family. He enriches Bengali literature with his prominent writings such as Sharmista,Padmaboti,Buro Shaliker Ghare Roe,Krisnokumari,Akei ki Bole Shovota,Tilottomma Shomvob,Meghonadbodth kabbo,Brozoungana kabbo, Birongona kabbo.

 

Collectorate Building :

The name of Jashore Collectorate  is organically involved with history and tradition. Jashore Collectorate was established in 1786.It is located at Doratana in Jashore. The building is at present the office of DC(Deputy Commissioner).First floor of the present building was founded in 1885 and second floor in 1982.

 

Jashore, in case of education:

Education is a prominent  element of our fundamental demands. The development of education has started from British period in Jashore. Jashore Zilla School is a school among first four schools which were established in the subcontinent. The school was established in 1838, at that time, the name of the school was "Jashore Government Model School ".Moreover, Sammiloni Institute,Munshi Meherulla Academy, Basundia High School, Jongal Badhal High School, Momin Girls school, Madhusudan Tara Prossanno Higher Girls School, Daud Public School, Satiantola Turamonkati High School and so on. For higher education Jessore University of Science and Technology, Medical College, Jashore Government City College, Government M. M College are available in Jashore. To broaden education in Jashore some great persons have contributed like Doctor Muhammad Shahidullha, Satish Chandra Nath,Md.Abdul Rowuf, Md.Mobarak Ali, Ansari,Principal Muhammad Abdul Hai,Principal Mohammad Mokhletur Rahaman, Moulovi Mohammad Akkas Ali,Probodth Kumar Mittra,Monoara Khatun,Captain Karim who are remarkable.

 

Date Juice in Jashore :

Jashore is famous for Date Juice.  There are 4,62,525 date palms and 2,31,26,250 litres date juice is collected from date palms of 486.20 (Hector) land and from the juice 37,00,200 KG molasses is made.

 

Vegetable and Flower in Jashore :

There is favourable weather in Jashore for cultivation vegetables and flowers. For that reason,vegetables and flowers are commercially cultivated in the district. Here,vegetables are like  Cauliflower, Cabbage, Kohlrabi,Radish,Egg plant,Bean,Papaya,Pointed gourd,Tomato,Bottle gourd,Turnip-cabbage,Arum,Potato,Onion,Chilli,Red spinach,Green spinach,Prickly-seeded-spinach,Pumpkin etc. Flowers are like Rose,Tuberose,Sunflower, Merrigold,Gardenea,Dahlia etc.
